The original Café Andaluz on Cresswell Lane has the same warm décor picked out in patterned ceramic tiles and brightly coloured lamps, but has a more open plan feel than its City Centre counterpart. It generally has a bustling atmosphere on any day of the week, but is naturally very popular at weekends, so advanced booking is essential. The tapas and paella based menu features all the classic Spanish favourites from tortilla to patatas bravas and several chorizo dishes – look out for the ‘Chorizo & Butifarra Negra’, a fantastic dish of chorizo and Andalucian black pudding in a spicy tomato sauce. Paella fanatics also won’t be disappointed with four different types to choose from, try the Paella Valenciana for a taste of everything. And with chilled sangria by the glass and by the pitcher you’ll feel like you’re back on holiday in no time.
